Lead Counsel, Dow Canada
Lorne O’Reilly joined Dow Chemical Canada in April 2015 and is responsible for Canadian legal services, including corporate, governance, regulatory compliance and strategic matters. Lorne is part of Dow Canada’s leadership team and assists Dow’s US legal and Canadian executive teams to advise on M&A, privacy and foreign corrupt practices. Prior to Dow, Lorne was a general counsel and business leader for two other Canadian public energy companies, starting his legal career as a corporate and M&A lawyer at national law firm. In the Calgary community, Lorne is Vice-chair of the Heritage Park Society Board of Trustees (responsible for the stewardship of Heritage Park Historical Village, where he spends time with his three sons and a daughter).
Lorne is co-founder and past-President and director of the Association of Corporate Counsel – Alberta Chapter, involved in the ACC’s global educational, advocacy and networking efforts and initiatives. He speaks at ACC events, including Annual Meetings and Leadership Development Institutes across the US, and is a member of the ACC Leadership Excellence Counsel. Lorne is a Canadian Advisory Counsel member of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution and a director of the Alberta General Counsel Association. Lorne is recognized on the Legal 500’s GC Powerlist, was a 2016 “Top Ten 30-Something” by the ACC in June 2016 and a finalist “Rising Star” for the 2016 Global Counsel Awards; he is also a judge for the Canadian Law Awards, Lexpert Rising Star Awards, and ACC “Top Ten 30-Something” awards.
