Andrea Wood

Chief Legal and Governance Officer, Telus

As Chief Legal & Governance Officer of TELUS and a member of TELUS’ Executive Leadership Team, Andrea oversees TELUS’ cross enterprise legal team. Andrea serves as Corporate Secretary to its board of directors. Through her leadership, she enables the advancement of TELUS’ social purpose to connect all Canadians for good. She is a fervent advocate for transparent financial and non-financial disclosure, enabling TELUS’ global leadership in social capitalism. She also serves as TELUS’ global executive sponsor for Connections – a grassroots initiative that supports networking and career growth for women across the organization.

Andrea has over 25 years of experience in the technology, media and entertainment industries. After starting her career in Dentons’ financial services group, she joined the legal group at Alliance Atlantis Communications (a publicly listed television and film production and distribution company and broadcaster) where she held a variety of positions over 16 years, ultimately serving as Executive Vice-president and General Counsel. After leaving Alliance Atlantis, Andrea joined Bennett Jones as co-lead of the firm’s national media and entertainment practice, before moving to WIND Mobile (now Freedom Mobile) as Chief Legal Officer.

Outside of TELUS, Andrea is an enthusiastic volunteer. She serves on the board of directors of the Vancouver Opera, the Greater Toronto Area Community Board of the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation and the Canadian Lawyer Editorial Board. Andrea is also on the Advisory Committee of the Portrait Gallery for Canada. Recognized by Chambers Canada as a GC Influencer, she participates enthusiastically in a number of industry initiatives, including through her service on the Executive Committee of Legal Leaders for Diversity. She is also a past Director and Vice-chair of the Corporate Governance Committee of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and past President of the Empire Club of Canada.
